About
Ellen Thornton is an Associate at RCSM in the firm’s Probate, Estate and Trust Administration, and Estate Planning Practice. In that role she assists clients with estate planning, probate administration, trust modifications and terminations, guardianships, supplemental needs trusts, estate litigation, and other related matters. Additionally, Ellen speaks to various community organizations on topics including estate planning, probate, and asset protection.
Ellen received her J.D. from the University of Kentucky College of Law in 2021, where she served as a Notes Editor for the Kentucky Law Journal, Vol. 109 and as President of the Moot Court Board. She received an award for the Best Appellant Brief for the Harlan Writing Club in addition to the CALI Award for the highest grade in Legal Research and Writing. Ellen received her B.A. from the Centre College in English with a minor in Sociology.
Prior to joining RCSM, Ellen served as a Staff Attorney to the Honorable David A. Lanphear for the 8th Judicial Circuit, Division 3. In that role, she gained valuable experience in the area of family law and learned much about family dynamics and navigating family conflict, which serves her well in her current probate, estate and trust administration practice.
In her free time Ellen enjoys cooking, traveling, and cheering for the Kentucky Wildcats.
