About
Mel is a founding member of Rose Camenisch Stewart Mains and has been practicing law in Lexington since 1986. Mel’s practice focuses on business and commercial matters, and he has handled matters in a wide variety of areas including mergers and acquisitions, equity and debt financing, contract development and negotiations, mineral transactions and product distributorships (both domestic and international). Mel has also represented many clients in the equine business, including owners, trainers, lenders and various industry organizations.
In addition to his business and transaction practice, Mel has litigated a broad variety of commercial disputes in federal and state courts in Kentucky and throughout the region.
Mel was born and grew up in Danville, Kentucky. He graduated from Vanderbilt University in 1983 and later graduated from the University of Kentucky College of Law in 1986. Mel is AV Preeminent Peer Review Rated by Martindale-Hubbell, is a Fellow of the Kentucky Bar Foundation and has been listed in Best Lawyers in America for many years. Mel served for several years as a Trial Commissioner of the Kentucky Bar Association and presided over many attorney disciplinary hearings. He recently completed service as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bluegrass Community & Technical College Foundation and he is a member of the Corporate Council for the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital in Lexington.
